SO. Back when Peter and I were first expecting Noni we talked about the pros and cons to clothe vs. disposables. We decided to give clothe diapers a try since I heard so many good things about them and since we were going to have multiple children we really would save money. Then we had to decide which kinds to get. Without having a whole lot of knowledge on what was a good kind a good style we simply went by reviews we read online. I wanted to get the most covers and liners I could for my money. So we chose Soft Bums. They are an adjustable infant to toddler diaper with fleece inserts. I even got money from my shower to put towards them so we didn't have to spend much of our money which was great.
Since day one I have had issues with these diapers. I thought it was just me and something I was doing wrong. She would leak with an hour to hour and a half. So I used them off and on only when we were at home and I could change outfits regularly. Talk about frustrating. So time went on and I began to meet a lot of crunchy mamas who used only clothe on their babes and have no problems. They even used them over night which sounded crazy to me. I began to educate myself by asking lots of questions, reading up on different ways to treat and strip diapers. I tried numerous things, stripping them, steaming them in boining water, sunning them, different all natural detergents, and so on. I was able to use them last summer because she peed less but after a while they started leaking again. I even let my friend, who uses a couple different kinds of CD on her little girl with no problem, take them strip them, wash them the way she washes her own and they leaked for her too. I have emailed the company for help too and they gave me some pointers but say they have no issues.
Ugghh!! So here I am. Been using disposables for atleast 6 months staight now and ready to sell my clothe diapers and my husband doesn't want to buy any others. I am due with my next baby in Oct and Im so bummed we don't have CD to use. I am going to see if the company will buy them back but I doubt it. I hope this doesn't discourage mamas from using clothe diapers, I would suggest not using Soft Bums though.

Is it my fault??
Is it all my fault my daughter is the way she is? I have been asking myself this question off and on lately. Most of the time I feel secure in my parenting decisions and who my daughter is becoming but sometimes. ... ya know those times. ... when she has a complete melt down over nothing in front of a whole lot of people, or how she won't sit still for even a minute, or she wants to scream and run when you really need her to just sit and be quiet.
Or when a certain loved one tells you that you shouldn't have held her so much as a baby or she wouldn't be so clingy. Or if you would have taught her to soothe herself as a baby she wouldn't still need you to go to sleep. Or when quite a few people ask "so when are you going to stop nursing." Or "if she can ask for it she shouldn't have it." Then the whole "ya know ya really should spank her for that." These are the kinds of things I have been hearing lately. And let me tell it is really not helpful. The pregnancy hormones are flyin and Noni is 21 months old which has been a very interesting age. The past few months have been quite trying and sometimes I stop and wonder, or just cry. Is it all my fault??

Meet my midwife!
I am 17 weeks along in my pregnancy and had my second appointment this week. I get to hear the little heart beat every time which is so fun. It was about 140 which is good.
If you don't already know this I am going to a midwife not a doctor. I had my Noni girl at home with no complications so I will be doing the same thing this time around. I love my midwife. She is great. She respects you and includes you in all the decisions and really allows you to plan your own birth and how it will go. (As much as you can plan) She is really layed back yet very educated and prepared. I fully trust her to be the person to deliver my baby into this world.
